PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES AND RESEARCH INSTITUTIONS
There are a great number of universities in France which are operated by the government and these universities provide high quality education and national diplomas which are globally recognised and have a world-wide assertion. These universities offer programmes in all streams including Science (Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Biology), Technology (Computer Science, engineering etc.), literature, arts, social science, Economics, law, business, health, medicine and physical education.
These universities offer programs at each level and these are termed as the following:
1. Licence (Bachelors) - 3years
2. Master’s- 5 years
3. Doctorate- 8 years

GRANDES ÉCOLES
These institutions are generally smaller than the public universities and they help career building and training in the following fields:

Public Administration and other fields. These institutions offer a high quality education to students by exposing them to the problems of the real world. They offer diplomas courses which are generally of 5-year duration and are recognised by the government.
SCHOOLS OF ART, DESIGN AND ARCHITECTURE
French Institutions also serve students in the stream of Arts, Designs and Architecture and they offer a world-wide recognised degree.

MANAGEMENT AND BUSINESS SCHOOLS
France offers you a whole range of different courses and types of institutions. Many French B-schools dominate international rankings such as the Financial Times rankings.

Mathematics Studies in France
French Universities are recognized internationally for their excellence in Mathematics. French Mathematicians have won 12 Fields Medals to date, the 2nd country in the league table.
6 French universities feature in the Top 100 universities for Mathematics research in the world (QS World University Rankings 2020) and increasingly, most top universities are starting to teach in English, opening up to a wider cohort of students.

SPECIALISED SCHOOLS
Specialized schools are operated by the Government and Privately. These institutions offer courses in the fields of nursing, journalism, social work, fashion, design, tourism, culinary arts and hotel management etc. The program is of 2-5 years of study and admissions are offered on merit basis.
There are some long-term and sort-term courses offered.
LONG-TERM COURSES
1. LMD Degree programs:

2. The Master’s Degree program has the following dimensions:

SHORT-TERM COURSES
Diplomas, or Brevet de Technicien supérieur, are offered in more than 145 disciplines including Hospitality and Management. These include:
1. Dilpoma or Brevet de Technicien Supérieur (BTS)
Professional training courses are offered by University of Technology (IUT- Institut Universtaires de Technologie). The university offers more than 30 courses.
2. Dilpoma/ Diplôme Universitaire de Technologie (DUT)
This is a two-year diploma course and it focuses on practices in the private sector.
3. Bachelor’s Degree (Licence Profesionnelle)
After completing the three diploma courses which have a duration of 2 years, students take courses for further completion of their degree.
