Franco Indian Education Trust

The Franco-Indian Education Trust, a non-profit charitable and educational Trust, is a joint initiative of the Embassy of France in India and Mr Prshant K Lahoti, Managing Trustee of the Krishnakriti Foundation. It was established in August 2017 and was unveiled in March 2018 during the State visit of President Emmanuel Macron to India.

The Trust aims to increase the mobility of students between India and France, provide equal opportunities to women and lower income groups and empower individuals through education. It offers scholarships to Indian students to pursue their higher studies in France.

There are two funding available through the Trust :

Legrand Empowering scholarship programme

Offered by the French electrical group Legrand, the programme supports the education of Indian students from low-income families and children of armed forces personnel (preference will be given to children of martyrs). It was launched in May 2018 with the support of the French Embassy in India.

The scholarship is offered at Master’s level in the field of Management, Science, Engineering, Finance and Social Science.

The scholarship will be awarded for up to a maximum of one academic year (September to June) and covers a monthly stipend of INR 59,500; visa fee waiver by campus France. It can be renewed for a second year and will be subject to students’ academic performance and attendance record in the first year of master studies.

Amba Dalmia scholarship programme

The scholarship is named after Amba Dalmia, the late daughter of Dr Gun Nidhi Dalmia of the Dalmia group. The Amba Dalmia scholarship programme was established in 2018.

The education of young Indian girls has always been a matter close to his heart. Thus, he has made substantial financial contributions to this endeavour.

The scholarship is designed to empower and encourage Indian women applicants to pursue studies in the fields of music, sports, theatre, cinema, gastronomy and arts in France.

The scholarship covers a monthly allowance for living expenses, visa and Campus France fee waiver. The scholarship does not cover any other expenses, such as flight tickets, accommodation, insurance or other travel-related costs.
