A "Visa de retour" allows an individual who is already resident in France and temporarily studying or working in India to return to France, due to one of the following situations:
Loss of your "Carte de séjour"
Your "Carte de séjour”:
-
has expired for less than 6 months
-
will expire soon and you have a valid reason not to go back to France before it expires (for instance, you are temporarily studying in India)
-
You hold a "récepissé de demande de carte de séjour"
According to French immigration regulations, students willing to follow their stay in France must go to the Prefecture of their residence within two months before expiry of their long stay student visa to ask for their temporary residence permit.
Students which long stay visa (VLS-TS) has expired during their stay/leaves in India and that have undergone the residence permit renewal procedure before leaving France must apply for a return visa.
Students whose long stay visa (VLS-TS) has expired during their stay/leaves in India and that have not undergone the residence permit renewal procedure before leaving France must apply for a new long stay student visa, upon presentation of a registration proof from their higher education school/university. In that case, they will not have to go through the CAMPUS FRANCE procedure again.
