You may apply online on the CAF website in the étudiants section.  You must then print the application and send it to CAF along with the required documents (rent, receipt, proof of scholarship, proof of income etc.).  You have 3 months to apply.  You must state your moving-in-date in your application, not the date when you submitted the application.  International students who are not European Union nationals must also include a copy of their residency card in their application.

Before you begin, collect the following information:

-the full address of the accommodation: you must have found your accommodation in order to be able to provide the address, total rent etc. in your application.

-your financial resources (scholarship amount, amount paid by your parents, salaries, etc.).

-Banking information - you must open a bank account in France as your housing assistance will be deposited directly into your account.

-social security information - be registered with social security at the moment of the administrative enrollment at university as you must provide your social security number;
